You Sit TOO MUCH & You Know It's BAD – but Have We Got the EASY CURES!

You sit all day working, driving, eating, computers, video games, etc., and you KNOW it's not good for you. Too much sitting increases your chances of heart disease, diabetes, and host of other nasty things to your body. Every doctor, chiropractor, massage therapist and what have you says the same thing: You NEED to move around more, and you know what? It's so much easier than you think!

I've seen several suggestions for moving around during the day but getting up every half hour to an hour to walk, stretch or just move about for two minutes is ideal for your body. In fact, it's now being said that this type of movement may be as good as having planned exercise during the day. Walk around, get a drink of water, have a walking meeting at work, or even do some light stretching. Anything you can do to move your body is very helpful physically.

Now here's some things you can do during your day to move about and stay active...

Set a reminder to take breaks – Set your phone alarm to go off every half hour to an hour. Stand during meetings – Why sit all that time when you can stand and be engaged. Forget the elevator is there and take the stairs. Forget the drive-thru window for your morning coffee, park and walk inside. Park farther away at work or the grocery store. Get a standing desk for work and you can intermittently stand and sit during the day. Walk around while you talk on your cell phone. Drink a lot of water and you'll have to go to the bathroom more. Use the bathrooms on different floors so you have to walk. Join a workout class during your lunch break – you won't believe how much energy you'll start to have. Take walks after dinner every night! Wear a walking or fitness tracking watch so you can see how much you're actually moving around! Now get up and stretch when you feel stiff or for any good reason!
