Finally Dining Out? Here's the BEST Tips for Keeping Safe from Covid in Restaurants

Finally Dining Out? Here's the BEST TIPS for Keeping Safe from Covid in Restaurants

Depending on where you live depends on what percentage of people are allowed to dine in a restaurant during the Covid pandemic. A good number of states have allowed their restaurants to be at 50% capacity. Places like New Jersey and New York City are at allow 25% while the state of Florida is the most lenient. But they all pretty much have the same safety rules and you really should check out their safety practices online before heading in.

People at table with beers in one hand and phone in the other

Most will tell you to wear a mask until seated as all employees are wearing masks. High touch surfaces are regularly disinfected, and chairs and tables are social distanced. Many experts claim you should eat outside if possible, but we realize that during the winter months it's just not possible in most of the country.

Employee putting up re-opening sign

You really want to use a disposable paper menu to keep free of other people's germs. If they don't have that for an option, then look at the menu on their website. Many places have switched to touchless pay options with your credit card which raises the level of safety. And as far as opening doors, it's your choice, but you can use a napkin or your shirt sleeve to grab the handle, but like I said, that's really up to you.

One thing you'll notice is that almost every restaurant isn't offering buffets, salad bars, or drink stations for your protection. And we definitely recommend that you bring a mini portable hand sanitizer to make sure that you are free of germs.

Listen, we're not being germaphobes here, we're just recommending a number of safety guidelines that give you the greatest chances of avoiding the Covid-19 virus. While some are must-do when dining out, others are simply suggestions to ensure that you have the safest experience possible while finally enjoying the heck out of dining out. It's about time!

BEST WAYS to Protect Your Dog in the Cold of Winter

Best Ways ti Protect Your Dog From the Cold of Winter...

There's a statement that's been said forever and it couldn't be more true. If it's wintertime and it's too cold and uncomfortable outside for you, then it's definitely too cold and uncomfortable outside for your precious dog. They're your best friend and it's so important to protect their health during the cold season. Dogs can easily fall prey to frostbite and hypothermia, so you really need to watch over them when letting them outside and taking them for walks.

Dog with scarf in the snow

First off, never shave their coat down to the skin as their fur gives them great warmth, but you can trim their hair a little to keep ice from sticking to it. It's also a good idea not to wash them as much in the winter as their coat gives off oils that protect their skin in lower temperatures. And for older dogs and smaller dogs with shorter hair, it's a good idea to get them an outdoor coat or a sweater to keep warm when it's wintery.

Man petting dog outside in the snow

The one thing you really want to watch for is the health and safety of your pup's feet. When it's cold and icy their paws can crack or bleed, so you want to wipe them down the second they come inside. But perhaps the biggest reason for wiping them down is that they walk through deicers, salt, and antifreeze on the road and sidewalks, and you just don't want fido licking those toxic chemicals off his paws. So, you really need to wipe your entire pet down when they come in, especially so they don't get dry and flaky skin.

One thing that's really important is making sure you have your pooch on a leash when there's snow or ice on the ground. They can lose their sense of site or smell and if he's light colored, he could blend in with the snow. So, make sure he's leashed the entire time.

You also want to watch their food intake. Indoor dogs are kind of like bears where in the winter, they sleep more, exercise less, and eat less, so, they burn a lot less calories. So, make sure they don't eat more than normal or else they'll get fat and that's just not healthy.

And we recommend for when walking your dog, Copper Fit compression braces for your back, knees, ankles, and hands. They work to increase mobility while supporting your muscles and joints!

You Want a GOOD Night's sleep? Here is our HUGE Recommendation to Achieve It...

You want A Good Night's Sleep? Here's Our HUGE Recommendation to Achieve It...

There are a number of things you can do to help you get a good night's sleep, but there's one thing we just can't recommend enough: Get yourself a really good mattress. Now we know they're not necessarily cheap but face it, you're going to spend 1/3 of your life laying on one so why would you want to stay in a lesser quality pain causer

Woman laying on mattress in store

That's right, and old cheap mattress causes pain in your back, hips, legs and joints. And when you don't sleep well it can lead to high blood pressure, memory loss, and you feel tired all day long. It's scientifically proven that within a very short amount of time, a higher end mattress can ease and even dissolve pain you've endured for years. It supports and relieves the pressure points in your body while aligning you in perfect position. You can literally sleep for 8 interrupted hours feeling relaxed energized.

Lifting up the corner of the mattress

Many people have sworn that a good new mattress literally changed their lives. But how did they go about picking the right one? Well, Robert Oexman D.C. of the Sleep to Live Institute simply says that the best mattress for you is the one that feels right for you. He highly recommends visiting a bedding store and taking the 20-minute mattress test, laying in the position you spend your night in. Now if you're buying a mattress for you and your mate, the experts claim that a medium-firm mattress is always the best choice.

Another reason for going with the new bed is allergens. If your mattress is older, it has years of sweat, dirt, mold, mildew, and those horrifying little dust mites. So, when getting a new one, think about choosing one made with hypoallergenic materials.

One more thing that may help you have a noticeably better night's sleep is the Angel Sleeper pillow by Copper Fit. It's formed with a superior adaptive memory foam to give back and side sleepers a better night sleep for an energized day. It's designed to help align the spine and neck and reduce pressure on your body for perfect rest.

On a final note... they say that you should get a new mattress every 7 - 10 years because frankly, that's how long they typically stay comfortable and supportive for your body. Listen, we know this a commitment, but if you're tired and wake up achy and cranky every day, it's time you enjoyed the sleep of your life.

Make Your Own All-Natural Energy Drinks – Nutritious, Healthy, & SO Delicious!

Make Your Own All-Natural, Energy Drink... Nutricious, Healthy & SO Delicious!

There is no doubt that mixing up your own all-natural energy drinks is infinitely better than canned drinks that are loaded with sugar and caffeine. Your body will be way better off as you'll also save a lot of money. And the beauty is that you can choose the ingredients you want for the time of day and activities you are doing.

Woman with smoothie

The first thing you'll need is a really strong blender as you'll be blending up vegetables and fruits. One simple and tasty one for breakfast is using 2% yogurt, blueberries and strawberries, a touch of honey, and orange juice. It's thick, filling, and slightly sweet.

Smoothie with blueberries

For a good pre-workout drink you'll blend up berries, banana, spinach, and vanilla protein powder. It's super flavorful and gives you the energy you need to get through your exercise regimen.

A simple one for quick energy is mixing raspberries, blackberries, the juice from one whole fresh lime, and a cup of water. Those berries have natural sugar for solid energy and the lime gives it the zest you need for a nice rush.

And now here's hearty one filled with powerful protein to get you through the morning. Cut half of a banana, 1 tablespoon of protein powder, 1 tablespoon of almond butter, 1/4 cup of plain 2% yogurt, 1/2 a tablespoon of flaxseeds, and 1 cup of coconut milk. This is loaded with good fats and sugars to give you ample energy the entire morning through!

And for a great post-workout drink that's super tasty and replaces what you've lost during exercise. Take chocolate syrup or powder, blend in a whole banana with a cup of whole milk, and finally a squirt of honey. Chocolate milk has been all the rage over the past few years for after workouts as it gives you the protein and carbs you need after going at it hard!

This is just a few great energy drink ideas. Now the web is filled tons of them so do some research and you'll be glad you made the switch from canned to super fresh!

What?... Make Your Own Peanut Butter?! It is Delicious and So Incredibly Easy!

My friend Jan makes her very own peanut butter and I was shocked how easy it is to make! Now you need to realize it's not super smooth and creamy like a jar of Skippy – it's more coarse, but it is incredibly flavorful! There's only a handful of simple ingredients and it takes very little time to make, so let's take a look at how she creates this magical treat!...

INGREDIENTS: 2 cups of shelled fresh peanuts, ½ a teaspoon of salt, 2 tablespoons of peanut oil, 2 tablespoons of fresh honey,

INSTRUCTIONS: Roast those peanuts for a wonderful rich flavor. Place nuts on a baking sheet at 350 degrees for 10 minutes until they turn golden brown. Then place them in a food processor with blade while the nuts are warm. Pulse them several times till they are chopped. Process for another minute as it will look sort of dry and chunky – scrape the sides. Run the processor for another minute as it will now start clumping up – scrape the sides. Run it for one more minute – scrape the sides ‐ and it will now start looking like thick and shiny peanut butter!

Now it's time to add your honey, salt and oil to the top and process the blender for another minute and a half. And now it's time to taste to determine if you want to process it a bit more creamer. Plus, you can now add more honey or salt for the taste you know you'll enjoy.

Finally, it's time to enjoy this luscious treat with jam or jelly on toast, English muffins, fruit, or however you want to devour it! When done eating, place your peanut butter goodness in a storage container and you can keep it refrigerated for a few weeks! Now when we say ENJOY, we mean it!

How to Choose the Right Type of Shoes for: Running, Walking, & Cross Fit Training

person walking away closeup of back of shoe

Whether you run or jog, exercise to keep fit or you're a hardcore athlete, the same mentality goes into choosing your shoes. You want to pick a pair that was made for the specific kind of exercise you are doing. Walking, running, and cross fit shoes are all different, assuring you the right comfort and safety component.

Running Shoes – They are designed for several things: preventing injury with the right shock absorption while helping you move swifter with greater ease. Now your feet swell when you run so it's suggested for a good fit that you try on your shoes in the afternoon or later in the day. You want the shoe to fit comfortably around your foot and fit directly centered on the sole. Now there are 3 type of running shoes to consider: Durable for everyday running, Lightweight for speed and racing, and for dirt you want them more durable up top.

couple tying shoes

Walking Shoes – The first thing you want are shoes that match the shape and type of foot you have: high arches, low arches, flat feet or wide feet. Plus, you can always choose how much support you may want or need. As the same with running shoes, make sure you buy them later in the day. Now if they feel tight when trying them on don't be thinking that they'll stretch. You want them to feel totally comfortable when you first put them on, and they say to leave around a half an inch space from the tip of your longest toe to the front of the shoe. Most Important: walking around the store for a minute or so to make sure of exactly how they feel.

Cross Fit Shoes – Whether your training for cardio or strength, excellent support is vital when choosing a cross fit shoe. You're wearing these while working out, so they need to be both durable and comfortable. Again, you want the kind of shoe that fits your foot perfectly while matching your arch. Best thing is to ask the store employees what type of arch you have. Look for the ankles and tops of the shoes to be sturdy with good support. Now you do not want to have to break them in. Move around when you try them on and take the time to make sure they're comfortable and fit great!

Does Coffee REALLY Give You More Energy...Ready for the SHOCKING Answer?

Cup of coffee

I'm betting that so many of you say the same thing: If I don't have my morning coffee, I'm no good to the world! Well, it's no secret that it wakes you up and gets you going. Now a friend of mine swears it gives him the energy he needs to take on the day. But I started to wonder if that was true. I mean, I know it's got caffeine, but does caffeine give you actual energy? So, I did some research and found some answers that might surprise you.

Drinking coffee buzzes your brain but does not give your body energy. Let me explain...The caffeine stimulates your brain activity creating a higher level of alertness which is why you feel more energized. Now calories are units of energy and coffee has very little calories, so again, your body is not getting actually energy as if you ate or drank something caloric. Wow.. ok, so what does this all mean.

Woman with coffee

Well, what coffee does is give you what's referred to as an “energy kick” which can be really good for you but doesn't give your body more endurance or strength. But believe it or not, coffee is actually considered to be a superfood that has a substantial amount of antioxidants. Studies have even shown that it can actually help those with dementia, Parkinson's, and Alzheimer's disease. Other studies have also shown it can actually make you smarter, be good for your liver, and reduce your risk of type 2 diabetes.

So, when you have a cup of joe, it's the neurotransmitter in your brain that becomes stimulated which again makes you feel more energized. Depending on the person, it can take anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes to kick in and can last as long as 12 hours. And 400 ml a day of it is considered to be safe for the average person.

Now, while it's considered really good for you, too much consumption can have the opposite effect. Too much caffeine can make you feel anxious and jittery and can elevate your heart rate. Too much can also lead to dehydration. And of course, if you have insomnia or anxiety, you may to stay away from it.

So, we say keep enjoying your super-drink oh lover of the bean. Your energy kick awaits!

Love to Walk? Here's How to Make It Much More Fun and Rewarding!

Walking is great for you. No matter your shape, weight, or age, you can walk at the pace that's perfect for you. But we admit, sometimes it's tiresome or boring doing the same routine all the time and we're here with a few ideas on how to mix it up to make your walks more beneficial and even more fun.

Feet walking on a road

Now we know that most people walk alone and use the same path each day. But the first thing you want to do is ask different friends and neighbors to join you! I walk five days a week and have different sets of people on different days and it has made it so much more fun. We talk and laugh, the walks seem to go by so much faster and I really look forward to it. I actually called friends and went to my neighbor's houses to see if they were interested and I was really surprised how well it was received!

I was getting bored walking the same paths each night, so I did some research and found several different and great places to walk that weren't far at all from my house. Now my different walking groups mix it up each week and it's always rewarding. Of course, we checked them out first to make sure they were safe and easy enough for everyone involved.

Dog

Now if you have a dog, it's another great way for making your daily walks fun. Taking your pooch out for his nightly stroll is great for both of you as you bond and get the exercise you both need. Always make it around the same time and distance so it becomes a routine. You can even get your neighbors with dogs to join in for awesome nightly walks.

The last thing is that I thought carrying light dumbbells while walking was a good idea but I'm finding that many experts feel that they can cause stress injuries to your muscles and your joints. Many suggest making a fist and doing chest presses and upright rows to help firm, tighten and sculp your upper body while walking.

Oatmeal — Whole grains are great at lowering bad cholesterol because soluble fiber’s job is to stop it from getting into the blood stream. They say you want to have about a quarter cup of oatmeal or 5 – 10 grams of fiber every day.

Pinto Beans — They’re great in Mexican food for more than their taste. There’s a lot of soluble fiber in these beans which again slows cholesterol from entering the system. And they are very high in antioxidants. Good choice!

Blueberries — It seems these berries are on every list we’ve had on healthy stuff to eat and this one’s no exception. If your goal is lowering your risk of cardiovascular disease, then include them in your weekly diet to help lower the bad LDL in your body!

Tomatoes — Lycopene is found in tomatoes and tomato products like ketchup and sauce. Bottom line is that it lowers the bad stuff and raises the good stuff. It’s suggested you eat 25 milligrams a day and after a short while you’ll start to notice a difference.

Avocadoes

Avocados — They’re not only great on sandwiches, salads, and guacamole, they’re healthy in so many ways. At a slower pace, eating avocados boosts the good HDL while lowering the bad LDL. They also lower triglycerides in the blood and are jam packed with the same kind of healthy fats found in olive oil.

Dark Chocolate

Dark Chocolate — Yeah, we’ve even got a deliciously healthy dessert on the list! The antioxidants and flavonoids found in dark chocolate (70% cocoa and above) really do lower your LDL. Even just one ounce of this good stuff a day can be beneficial for your diet.

WOW: Easy Beginner Dumbbell Workouts That Build Strength & Won’t Wear You Out

Whatever your age and shape, strength training can really improve your life! Not only can you strengthen your muscles, but you burn fat, lower your chances for osteoporosis, and just feel so much better about yourself!

Woman with dumbbells in her hand.

If you look on the web there are countless ideas for dumbbell workouts, especially for beginners. They are meant for using light weights and slightly higher reps for toning your physique and building strength. Of course, if you have any concerns you should consult your doctor before starting. Now when starting out it’s normal to feel some soreness afterwards but never pain. Make sure your start out with light weights and reps and build up as time goes on. Now here’s a few easy ones to get you started…

Chest Press ‐ Builds arms and chest. Lay down on the floor with a light dumbbell in each hand and have your arms at 45-degree angles. Face the palms of your hands forward. Thrust the dumbbells upwards slowly inwards towards your chest so when the weights are extended to the top, they are almost touching. Hold it there for a second. Now bring the weights back down slowly and start again. Begin with ten reps at light weight then increase to 12 – 15 reps when you feel you’re ready.

Squats ‐ Great for strengthening your legs. Stand with feet shoulder length, a dumbbell in each hand, with your arms hanging at each side. Now lower your butt downwards while bending your knees so your thighs are as close to parallel to the ground as you can get. Don’t worry if you can’t get all the way down, just do what you can. Now hold for a second then slowly come back up. Again, start with ten reps if you can then increase your reps and weight when you feel you’re ready.

Curls ‐ Good for arms and biceps. With a weight in each hand, stand with your arms hanging at your sides. Have your arms close to the sides of your body and have the palm of your hands facing forwards. Hold your upper arms in place while slowly curling the weights upwards towards your chest. Now hold the weights in place for a second then lower back down and repeat ten times.

These are great exercises to start with and again, you can peruse the web and You Tube to find a number of dumbbell exercises that’s perfect for you! The sky’s the limit how far you can go!

Tired? Check Out These 5 EASY Ways to GET MORE ENERGY NATURALLY!

You’re tired, I get it. But I guarantee you don’t realize that you can get more energy during the day, and we’re talking naturally without the use of caffeine and energy drinks. And believe it of not, it’s pretty simple and you won’t believe what a difference it will make!

Really try to avoid excess sugar - When you have a sugar filled drink, cake or candy your blood sugar level spikes and when it wears off you literally crash which causes you to feel tired. You won’t believe how amazing you feel as you start to eliminate added sugar from your diet. You’ll be blown away by your new-found energy!

Hang out with positive, happy, upbeat people - People who talk upbeat and forever act positive live happier lives. Hanging out with them will absolutely wear off on you and you will see your energy levels rise on a daily basis. Another way to look at this is to remove yourself from the negative downers you hang with. What a huge difference this will make for you.

Move around as much as you can - Moving gets the heart beating and the blood pumping. Now I’m not talking hardcore workouts, I’m talking maybe 10 – 15 minutes a day of getting your muscles going, even if it’s at a slow and steady pace. Take the stairs, hop on that exercise bike in the closet, or park a little farther away from the store and you will absolutely begin to notice a difference.

Woman Sleeping

Get more and better sleep - I know this sounds hard to do but there are ways to make it happen. One thing is to avoid phones, computers, and TV at least an hour before you hit the sack because it actually does have an effect on your sleep. Reading a book tires you out and a nice hot bath or shower really relaxes your body and mind.

Huge Breakfast

Definitely EAT BREAKFAST - People who skip the morning meal tend to have less daily energy than those enjoy it each day. But you really want to get jacked up from foods like eggs, fruit, oatmeal, low-sugar yogurt, and grain bread, as opposed to doughnuts and cereals with high sugar content. In a very short time you’ll see a big difference in the way you feel.

Drinking a Delicious Tea is Also Unbelievably Healthy - Check Out Its Amazing Benefits Here!

For thousands of years, tea has been loved the world over. Whether it’s iced tea in the warmer months, or a steaming hot cup during colder weather, it’s a delicious drink available in many types. But most people don’t realize how incredibly healthy and beneficial to the body it is. Tea is loaded with nutrients and a whole lot of good stuff that’ll make you love it even more!

Ice Tea Pitcher

Research actually shows that partaking in tea on a regular basis can indeed improve your health! A recent study has proven that tea is a fantastic source for flavonoids and compounds that relieve inflammation and oxidative stress in the body. Green tea is processed the least and popular for its medicinal purposes such as soothing the digestion process.

Now tea is rich in antioxidants and a white tea is simply loaded with them. Regular traditional tea has about 50% less caffeine than coffee and herbal tea contains none. While black tea generally carries the most caffeine, the more the tea steeps the greater the amount of caffeine. And of course, there’s herbal tea’s amazing health benefits as it is full of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, as it helps in soothing and refreshing the mind.

Tea can also help with weight loss and may actually boost your immune system! And it’s known to contain substances that have been associated to lower risks of diabetes, cancer, and heart disease. Amazing!

Tea can actually boost endurance during exercise! Scientists discovered that the antioxidants found in green tea extract help the body in burning fat as fuel, which creates endurance in your muscles.

And finally, Italian researcher, Vanessa Bianconi claims that study results suggest that habitual tea consumption may be considered as an overall health-promoting lifestyle behavior. Hey, I’ll drink to that!

Here's the Incredible BENEFITS of Coenzyme Q10 & Why You NEED to Take It!

Known as CoQ10, this amazing compound is an antioxidant that appears naturally in your body while playing an important role in your metabolism. Your body’s cells need it in order to create the energy they need to function. But unfortunately, when we reach the age of 50, CoQ10 productions begins to slowdown and without it, we’re more susceptible to internal damage as we age.

But the great news is that scientists have tested the energizing effects of Coenzyme and have found that it produces wonderful benefits for the body.

Reasons to take it…There’s evidence that CoQ10 can help to lower high blood pressure. It has been utilized to treat certain heart conditions as well as heart failure. It has also been used against damages that can possibly occur from taking cholesterol lowering statin drugs. It has also been studied in its effects on migraine headaches, certain cancers, muscular dystrophy, low sperm count, and Parkinson’s disease. It’s even been used to treat diabetes and the progression of Alzheimer’s disease.

Man boxing

Newest studies show that Coenzyme Q10 improves performance in athletes. Trained athletes showed a substantial increase in power production in comparison to a placebo. And it seems that older athletes gain greatly from CoQ10 as it naturally decreases as we get older.

Fish and Veggies

Now it’s also available in many of the foods we eat such as various meats, vegetable oil, delicious cold-water fishes such as salmon, tuna, sardines and mackerel, spinach, broccoli, and whole grains.

Now how much you take of it seems to vary. The average dose people take is 100 to 200 mgs per day. But some can take as much as 1,200 mgs per day which is considered still a safe level for the body. But as always, consult your doctor before taking any supplement to find out what’s right for you.

WOW – Raw Organic Honey – DELICIOUS & the Health Benefits are Simply AMAZING

I have a few friends who take raw organic honey that’s locally sourced all year round and they swear it helps tremendously with their allergies. So, I got all curious because I’ve heard that RAW honey is VERY different than regular supermarket brands. Quite simply, the raw kind is removed by a beekeeper directly from the honeycomb and it contains the bee pollen which is so good for you. Regular honey is pasteurized which reduces nutrients and antioxidants and can contain additives such as high fructose corn syrup.

Raw Honey

It seems that while pasteurizing the honey helps it to look better, it removes some really good stuff like the pollen which is anti -inflammatory and has antioxidants, plus important vitamins and minerals. The pollen also has pain relieving properties and antibacterial effects. Some studies have even suggested there are anti-cancer effects derived from the antioxidants in the organic goodness.

Bees with pollen

Then there’s the phytonutrients (yeah, a big word right there), that are responsible for the antibacterial properties as well as the immune boosting benefits. It has also been used for a long time to heal burns and wounds, help with digestive issues, and sooth a sore throat along with hot tea and lemon. It also contains antioxidant properties that are linked to lowering blood pressure.

And while I discovered all of this mind-blowing goodness about raw honey, I found out that it also helps to reduce cholesterol in your body. A few studies have shown that it reduces your bad cholesterol (LDL) while actually raining your good cholesterol (HDL). Just wow. And when used to replace sugar in your diet, studies have shown it to reduce triglyceride level as well. Just amazing.

This wickedly tasty bee -made goodness is not only awesome in tea, on cereal and muffins, but the health benefits are incredibly promising, and note, it is most definitely healthier than consuming raw sugar. I say go for it!

The BEST TIPS to Keep Your Dog Safe in Hot Weather

You love your 4 - legged friend and keeping him safe and healthy is always the priority. And with the hot weather here, there are some extra precautions you need to take to make sure that your canine is always protected.

Dog Smiling

The first thing is to never leave your dog in the car, even if the windows are cracked. In 85- degree weather your car can climb up to 120 degrees in just half an hour. Many states even now have laws about not keeping pets in cars. Dogs that can overheat easily are older or younger pooches, or those who are overweight or have thick coats. Either leave 'em home or take them with you! Some of the symptoms of overheating are panting heavily, excessive drooling, and even mild weakness.

Dog in a backpack

Now if it's REALLY hot, you just wanna keep your buddy indoors. But even if the heat is tolerable, make sure they have access to a lot of fresh water in deep bowls as they lose body moisture a lot quicker than us humans. You also want to keep them in the shade and don’t have them running about. They can get really sick if they overheat so keeping them cool and inactive is your best bet

One thing a lot of owners don't realize is to never shave your dog. You can trim his coat in the summer, but the fur actually helps to prevent sunburn and overheating. As long as air can circulate through their coat they will stay cool. And if you're going to use a sunscreen, make sure it’s approved for use on your pets! This is also the time of year that you want to scale back on their exercise. Now if you're going to walk them, earlier in the morning or later at night are better times because it's just not as hot outside.

Just a few simple preventable measures can really help to make sure your dog stays healthy and in good shape all summer long

Here’s the BEST NATURAL REMEDIES for You, When You’ve Got the Cold or Flu

While a cold is awful, the flu is just so much worse. Now a lot of us just don’t like to take or trust over the counter medicines to help with the problems. Fortunately, there are some excellent NATURAL choices to help remedy the situation. Many medical professionals believe that OTC medicines simply cover up the problems caused by cold or flu and recommend taking more natural type remedies.

Woman with glass of water

The very first thing that everyone will agree on is staying very hydrated which helps to flush out germs and bacteria from your body. Got a sore throat? Gargle with saltwater at least 4 – 6 times a day which can give amazing relief. Honey with tea and lemon will also help to sooth your throat. Now sleep is crucial when you are sick, which lets your immune system fight off bacteria and viruses while you are at rest.

Now don’t forget about taking vitamin C. It’s an immune system booster and can shorten the overall length of your illness. It’s recommended to take either high-end vitamin C capsules of get it directly from natural food and veggies like citrus fruits, strawberries, broccoli, brussels sprouts, kale, and peppers. And fresh garlic is also loaded with good stuff that keeps your system running healthy and clean.

Chicken Noodle Soup

How about mom’s recipe for delicious chicken soup? Isn’t it just a wives tale? Nope, not at all. The hot broth keeps you hydrated while opening up your nasal passages. The salt kills germs while the broth itself provides vitamins and minerals. All of those veggies have vitamins and minerals to promote your health. And the chicken has lots of protein to support your immune system as well!

Now a nice hot, super steamy shower is great for relieving your nasal passages. Sleeping with an additional pillow raises you head while helping your sinuses to drain. A neti pot or nasal irrigation when used properly can help to unclog your sinuses for better breathing.

Gives these natural remedies a try when God forbid your next cold or flu arises and we think you’ll notice a positive difference in how you feel!

Got Allergies? Check Out These "ALL NATURAL" Remedies That Help to Prevent & Cure!

Yeah, there’s a lot of drugs out there that help to fight allergies. But the good news is that there are "all-natural " remedies that do an amazing job in preventing and eliminating seasonal allergies. And depending on where you live in the US, seasonal allergies can be active from February all the way to November. The most common allergies give you itchy watery eyes, runny noses, congested nasal passages, and even asthma. And over the counter medications can make you feel either sluggish or ramped up with higher blood pressure.

Pollen Season Ahead

Well, the good news is that we’ve got three natural supplements here that not only do an amazing job fighting your allergies, but they’re also easy to find and reasonably inexpensive. This is VERY worth checking out…

Man Sneezing

Vitamin C – The reason why vitamin C works so well as an antihistamine is because it’s an excellent anti-inflammatory as well as a powerful antioxidant. Now you want this vitamin in the form of either a supplement or in the foods you eat because the body does not produce it. Vitamin C does an amazing job helping your body to fight infection as it boosts your immune system helping to protect your cells from being damaged. Foods that are a great source of vitamin C include bell peppers, guava, kiwi, strawberries, oranges, tomatoes, broccoli, and kale.

Probiotics – They’ve become a big deal over the past few years helping your body produce a healthy balance of gut bacteria. Probiotics are microorganisms that can help to boost your immune system. Harmful pathogens can form in the gut and probiotics can help strengthen your immune system to fight them. Taking them during allergy season can help to reduce nasal symptoms while improving your overall health.

Quercetin – Now this is an all-natural supplement that has become kind of big during the Covid epidemic. It’s an antioxidant found in many foods and adding it to your diet has been shown to relieve many allergy symptoms as it prevents the release of antihistamines into your body. While a good number of foods contain quercetin (broccoli, apples, grapes, peppers, berries, red onions, black tea, and even red wine), it has been shown that taking supplements as opposed to food containing it works better for treating allergic conditions.

Want to Look & Feel Younger? Here's 3 Anti-Aging Supplements Great for Your Body!

Slowing the aging process is something that doctors and scientists have researched for ages. The good news is that they have identified a number of supplements that have proven to anti-aging properties. Years of research has been done in this field and there are many that doctors recommend.

Today we share three of those supplements that you may be familiar with and are easily found online, in pharmacies, and even supermarkets. Check it out as you may be surprised!

Looking into the mirror

Co Q-10 – Over the past few years, doctors have praised the health benefits of CO Q-10 and its ant-aging properties. You see, while your body produces this nutrient, as you age the production depletes. It has been used to improve the level of blood vessels, help lower blood pressure and even heart failure. And it has even been used in combatting side effects that may occur from taking statins. While foods that carry the supplement aren't as rich in it as taking supplements, certain good sources of it are found in cold water fishes like tuna, salmon, sardines and mackerel, meats, and vegetable oil.

Collagen – Scientific research suggests that taking a collagen supplement can improve physical aging signs including reduction of dry skin and wrinkles. It is a rich protein found in the body that helps with the healthy production in ligaments, muscles, tendons and even helps to reduce joint pain. But as you age the body produces less and less of it as one of the signs is looser skin that is noticeably less supple. A study from last year showed that taking a collagen supplement along with a few other ingredients improved hydration in the skin along with elasticity.

Vitamin supplement

Garlic – It's known as strong antioxidant with anti-inflammatory properties. The compounds in garlic can help to reduce blood pressure, and it may even help to improve bone health, and might actually help to improve your athletic performance. It even has antioxidants that might help to prevent dementia and Alzheimer's disease. Crushed garlic extract has been used to reduced hair loss when massaged into the scalp. Having it in your diet is most helpful but taking it as a supplement will help even further.

As with any supplement, we recommend doing your research on their properties as well as the amounts you should take. Conferring with your doctor is always an important step in assuring your personal safety.

Here's the Way to Make the BEST Frozen Smoothies You'll EVER Create!

If you want to make your own amazing smoothie recipes you've come to the right place. When the weather gets hot, there is nothing like a homemade blended treat to quench your thirst! Now the first thing we want to say is that we NEVER use ice! Ice just waters down the flavor, so the rule of thumb from the smoothie masters is to always go with 2 cups of fruit to one cup of liquid.

Great frozen fruits to use are strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, banana, pineapple, grapes, or any kind of tropical blend. Liquids you can use: orange, pineapple, apple or white grape juice, coconut milk, water, and even a little rum can be added if you're adventurous! You can even use ice cream to make a delicious dessert! Hey, even a dash or whip cream on top can't hurt!

Frozen Berry Smoothie

Now you can make your smoothies 2 ways: with enough consistency so you can drink with a straw, or thick enough that you can eat it with a spoon. To thicken it up you can add yogurt, veggies like spinach, shaved carrot, or kale, protein powder, peanut butter, nuts, seeds, or just double up on the fruit.

So now you want to blend that sweet mixture. The first thing we have to say is to put your blender setting on HIGH so everything in there gets nice and smooth for you. And depending on how thick it is, you may have to pause it so you can get the mixture off the sides of the glass. And keep the top on because you just never know how it's gonna take off when you start!

People making a smoothie together

Smoothie bowls are a big deal right now so you can either serve up your thicker concoction that way, or if it's a drinkable, a tall glass with a straw works fine and add a little umbrella to liven things up!

Making great smoothies is pretty darned simple and it's great to experiment to create some awesome recipes! I'm going with blueberry, strawberry, banana and peanut butter to start. So, what are you ready to whip up?

6 Things You Need To Fix Up in Your Home While You’re Quarantined!

While there’s still Quarantines going on, you have the time to finally fix up stuff in and around your house that you didn’t have the time to before! My friend did just that and his house has been upgraded considerably. Now he’s not a builder or even really a handyman for that matter, but he watched some You Tube videos, picked up a few supplies and learned how to fix up things around his home… and the results are awesome! Here’s a few fixes he made and now his house look simply amazing!

Sweet Potato Fries

Planted a Flower Garden The front of the house was drab for years, so an upgrade was in order. He laid down a few bags of soil, planted a bunch of thick colorful flowers, and added some new bushes. For real, it looks like he spent thousands with a landscaper but did it himself and it makes the house look spectacular! What an upgrade!

Sealed the Driveway – He bought a driveway sealing kit, fixed the cracks, laid down the sealant and it not only looks new, but now he’s making a few grand doing our neighbors driveways!

Replaced Porch Handrails – He got brand new modern looking handrails for the front and back porch, learned how to take out the old ones and install new ones! The porches look new and awesome!

Put in New Toilets The old ones were over 30 years old and just looked bad. So, he bought 2 brand new ones that are a slightly different shape and taller off the ground and what an absolute difference this makes in his bathrooms! And it really wasn’t hard to do.

Man Painting

Fixed Up His Shed – He has an old wooden shed where the door and roof was just old and the paint was chipped. So, he spent a weekend sanding the shakes, installed a nice new door, painted it all, replace a few shingles and even planted flowers around it. And I am telling you it makes his yard look like home. It’s actually unbelievable how much this spruced things up!

Installed Brand New Shutters He found vinyl shutters online that were beautiful, colorful and inexpensive. He had only repainted the house recently so doing the shutters was the finishing touch. Between the flowers, porch handrails, and the shutters the house looks new and without question has increased in value. Just gorgeous!

So, I have now dived into a few projects at home and it looks great. Hey, you’ve got some time, what could you do around the house to make it look newer?!

Here’s the BEST & Tastiest Warm Weather Veggies to Grow in Your Garden

There a lot of choices of what to grow in the spring and fall, but when the weather starts to turn from warm to hot there aren't as many. But luckily, there are several veggies that thrive in the warmth and heat. So, here’s a few delicious one’s we highly recommend that you need to add to your garden and your family will love them!

Sweet Potato Fries

Sweet Potatoes Look on the web and you'll find sweet potatoes at the top of everyone's list for growing when the weather goes from warm to hot. The beauty here is that when it gets a little too hot to grow regular spuds, these sweet one's will thrive. And when we say thrive, we mean that they just don't need a whole lot of attention. And in around 90 days they're ready pick! They're lower in calories and carbs than regular spuds and are loaded with Vitamin A (great for skin and eye sight) along with vitamin C.

Eggplant Many consider eggplants to be the absolute best summer crop. They actually love the heat and basically grow free of pests and disease all summer long. There are several kinds of eggplants so we recommend you do a little research to find out which type grows best in your region. Not only are they so delicious, but they're also high in nutrients and antioxidants, and low in calories and high in fiber which makes them a terrific addition to any type of diet!

Chili Sauce Extra Hot

Hot Peppers Now there are a number of hot peppers to choose from so the first thing to make sure of is that you can handle the heat. The good thing is that they grow extremely well in most climates but they do prosper well when it's hot out. And they are pest resistant due to their natural spiciness. It's a good idea to grow a few different types to see what you'll like and what grows best where you live. Hot peppers are also great for your digestive tract, they can relieve joint pain, and can actually improve your metabolism!

Cucumbers – If you want to grow great cucumbers, all you need is good moist soil and a whole lot of natural sunlight. And while some cukes don’t tolerate the heat well, there are a number of varieties that handle the hot weather like champs. They're really high in water content, super low in calories and very rich in nutrients and antioxidants. You can add them to so many salads and dishes, but they are truly delicious when sliced ultra-thin while adding just a little olive oil, vinegar, salt and pepper… Yum!

Ice Knee Sleeve – The world's FIRST Copper Fit® compression sleeve to infuse the cooling sensation of menthol and the energizing properties of CoQ10 into the compression fabric using a patented Micro-Encapsulation technology. Hummingbirds Are Back! Here's Great Ways to Attract These Beauties to Your Yard!

Hummingbirds are simply amazing creatures to behold. Their wings beat at 80 flaps per second and their hearts do over 1200 beats per minute. Actually they don’t officially flap their wings, but instead they rotate them in a figure 8! They fly at an average of 25 - 30 miles per hour and can dive at a 50 miles per hour. They have no sense of smell but can hear a lot better than us humans! And some will travel over 2,000 miles twice a year for their migration! And they are the only birds on earth that can fly backwards, forwards, up, down, and sideways! Whew!

Hummingbird Feeding on Flowers

Now there are several things you can do to attract these beauties so you can see them quite often. First off, here ’s a nice list of plant life that the birds love: Many types of Beebalms (Lemon, Scarlet, Spotted), Coral Honeysuckle, Cardinal Flower, and a large variety of sages. These birds are made for eating sugary nectar which makes up 90 % of its diet. They’re also attracted to tubular flowers that are either orange or red.

Now, make sure your yard has lots of perches for them to rest on. But they will also perch to get a good look at the territory. They like to nest in places that are close by to the food source, especially near the edge of your yard. Now insects, especially spiders are an important part of their diet so its recommended to not use pesticides in your yard.

Hummingbird on Feeder

Hummingbird feeders are a great way to attract these marvels. Now the first thing is that you should never use artificial sweeteners or honey. What you should use is sugar water by combining 4 parts of hot water with 1 part of white sugar boiled for a minute or two. Also, you can attract fruit flies for them to dine on by hanging over ripened fruit next to the feeder. In fact, you should look up native plants to your area that will attract the types of bugs that hummingbirds will eat

Hopefully these beauties will make your home their summertime resting place!

Sit Ups Vs. Crunches – What’s the Best for Losing That Gut?

This has been a question for years from people of all ages. So, the very first thing you need to know is that neither sit ups or crunches burn fat. Sorry, but you needed to know that combining aerobic exercise (which is fat burning) with a healthy low calorie/lower carb diet is what will help you lose the fat. But you also need to know that both sit ups and crunches will strengthen your core muscles which will help to strengthen your entire body!

Situps

Sit Ups and Crunches both help you in building muscles. But what’s important to know is that sit ups actually work multiple muscles on your body, (not just your abdominals) including: lower back, hip flexors and chest. Crunches only work your abdominals. This is a great exercise for those who are trying to have six-pack abs so they are just a tad more advanced.

Now the problem with sit ups is that people either do them incorrectly or do too many which can hurt your lower back and even your neck. We recommend speaking with your doctor or a physical trainer to learn exactly what you should be doing at your age and the shape you are in. We do recommend wearing a comfortable, Light Weight Lower Back Brace. The Copper Fit Advanced Back Pro was designed to help reduce lower back stress and strain and improve posture. It can be worn comfortably under or over clothes while allowing full range of motion.

Woman doing a sit up

Crunches are ideal for strengthening your core which can actually help your entire body and how you feel overall. This can actually help to improve your posture and even your balance. Now what kind of shape that you are in depends on how to approach doing crunches. If you’re a beginner, you want to start really slow, with low reps. And again, a doctor or a professional trainer is who you should seek advice from.

The web is absolutely loaded with articles and videos on how to approach working your stomach and your core and you can definitely find the best ways to do these workouts to go with the kind of shape that you are in. And, while these exercises don’t burn fat, they will help to put you in better shape, including looking better and feeling better.

So, You’ve Got Joint Pain & Stiffness? Here’s 6 Top Ways to Get Relief!

Whether its after waking up or from doing physical activity, joint pain and stiffness can be nagging and awful, actually stopping you from getting the movement your body needs. But there are some good ways to decrease and even alleviate the symptoms and we’ve got some awesome suggestions below…

Joint Pain Areas

Hot & Cold Therapy When your joints are either sore or swollen, this can really help during different times of the day. If there’s no swelling but your joints are stiff or achy, use a microwavable moist heat pack for 15 minutes at a time. Heat draws blood to the area, helping to loosen those stiff joints. But if they are swollen, say after doing physical activity, use an ice pack to reduce the swelling for 15 minutes per hour.

Joint Pain Areas

Eat Foods Rich in Fatty Acids – Foods rich in Omega 3 fatty acids not only bolster your immune system, they also help your body to relieve inflammation that can cause both pain and stiffness. And this can definitely help you decrease your use of over the counter pain meds. Cold water fish such as wild salmon, albacore tuna, Atlantic herring, mussels, sword fish, sardines, and Atlantic mackerel are high in these amazing acids. Brussels Sprouts, flax and chia seeds have good amounts, as well as walnuts, soybeans, eggs and yogurt.

Copper Infused Compression Gloves – Compression helps blood flow and circulation, and provides support, relief and recovery from painful stiffness, swelling, and sore muscles. Form-fitting, light-weight compression gloves fit like a second skin, and the open finger-tip design lets you comfortably handle small details. And the adjustable wrist straps give you the perfect fit you desire.

Stretching Exercises – Having strong and flexible muscles help to give your joints the support they need. You can help to avoid pain by keeping your muscles supple. Check out various ways to stretch on You Tube, including Yoga, Tai Chi, and Pilates which are fabulous ways to stay loose.

Light Exercise – When you increase flexibility and strength, you help to eliminate pain and stiffness. Walking, cycling, swimming, and even moving around in the garden is the kind of exercise that’s easy on the joints while helping you to stay loose.

Massage - Okay, so we’re talking about self-massage and it can really help. Rubbing and loosening the areas around your hand and wrists, knees and ankles can improve you range of motion while helping to decrease pain. Yes, massaging those muscles around you joints can definitely bring about relief.

Always speak with your doctor or a therapist to learn if these tips may work for you.

The Amazing Benefits of Vitamin C & the Foods That are Loaded With It!

Vitamin C is one of the best known and most taken vitamins in the world because the health benefits are off the charts! Now you can take the over the counter vitamin daily, eat lots of foods that contain this awesome supplement, or do both! But before we tell you the foods, you've got to see this...

First off, loaded with antioxidants, it's amazing at boosting our immune systems by attacking viral cells that try to hurt our system. It strengthens white blood cells which provides anti-viral production. With that being said it can also help to treat a cold as studies have shown the time of a cold can be drastically reduced.

It's also known to actually lower hypertension. Studies have indicated that blood pressure was lowered in both people with and without high blood pressure. Now nitric acid is protected by vitamin C which is known to relax your blood vessels. It also helps to repair damaged tissues in the body and it is recommended that foods rich in vitamin C are what is meant for healing tissue, as opposed to vitamin pills.

How about cardiovascular health? A study showed that 500 milligrams of vitamin C can be as good for your heart as light bouts of exercising. It also fights off strokes. Deficient levels of the vitamin are seen as a real risk for strokes and a study in Japan said that vitamin C helped in actually preventing strokes.

Bell Peppers

So, what foods are the best way to get your natural doses of incredibly healthy vitamin C? Well, it's mostly loaded in most fruits and vegetables. One green chili pepper has 121 milligrams of vitamin C which is 121% of the daily value! A half a cup of yellow peppers delivers 137 mg, 152% of the DV. Kale has 80 mg – 89% of the DV. And broccoli, which is wickedly healthy has 51 Mgs.

Okay, now lets get serious... one cup of Acerola Cherries – I kid you not – contains 822 mg of vitamin C which is an astounding 913% of the DV! But then there's the Australian superfood, the Kakadu Plum which in 100 grams of the fruit has an astounding 5300 mgs of vitamin C, which is the single most-highest concentration of it!

Oranges

Other foods that are rich in vitamin C are black currants, brussels sprouts, lemons, strawberries, papayas, oranges, grapefruits, kiwis, guava, pineapple, and parsley.

Since you're stuck in the house, there's a ton of series to watch on cable. Ok, maybe you've already seen a bunch, but I guarantee there's a huge number you haven't. I've watched a lot of shows, so I thought I'd share a few that I really enjoyed. And the crazy thing is that they're ALL so different from one another! Check out my list and see what you think...

Netflix - The Crown

The Crown (Netflix) – Entering its third season, The Crown (starring Claire Foy and Oliva Colman) is the story of Queen Elizabeth II and how she came to rule Britain's second half of the 20th Century. John Lithgow (Golden Globe award winner as Winston Churchill) is simply fabulous. > https://www.netflix.com/title/80025678

Netflix - Tiger King

Tiger King (Netflix) – This documentary might be the craziest train wreck you'll ever watch. Joe Exotic owns over 1,200 tigers, lions and bears (oh my) at his zoo in Oklahoma, and he is certifiably insane as is almost everyone on this hit 7-part series. You won't believe what goes on each episode as the insanity builds, including Joe's disdain for Carol Baskin, the so-called animal savior who wants to shut him down. Trailer > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=acTdxsoa428

Deadwood (HBO) – Tremendous acting and characters (starring Ian McShane and Timothy Olyphant) has the new 1876 South Dakota town growing rapidly during the nation's richest gold strike. Lost In Space (Netflix) - This show surprised many with its acting and storylines about the space-age Robinson family, a modern sci-fi version of the 1965 TV series. Starring Molly Parker, Toby Stephens, and Maxwell Jenkins, it's a compelling reboot of the future, including a twist on Dr. Smith and an amazing interpretation of the Robot. It's good drama and a lot of fun as the Robot repeats his infamous line of “Danger Will Robinson”. > https://www.netflix.com/title/80104198

Mindhunter (Netflix) – This is simply an amazing show with outstanding writing based on the book: Mindhunter – Inside the FBI's elite serial crime unit. In the late 1970's. FBI agents (played by Jonathan Groff and Holy McCallany) delve into the psyche of serial killers as they create the Behavioral Science Unit, which opens them up to the world of why these criminals do what they do. Truly fascinating and a terrific cast. Trailer > https://www.netflix.com/title/80114855

Can't Leave the House? This French Onion Soup Recipe Will Make You Love Staying Home!

This has to be one of the greatest soups of all time! All those sweet onions, tasty bread, and gooey melted cheese will make you feel right at home. But what most people don't realize is how important the broth that you use is.

French Onion Soup

Beef broth is what's traditionally used, but all beef broths don't taste alike. Some are delicious and perfect for the recipe and some are not. Now you can make a homemade broth but it's a lot of work and takes a lot of time. So, we're recommending for this recipe that you buy a flavorful broth that you know will work well for your soup.

Ingredients Needed

  • 3 lbs of yellow onions sliced thin to make 10 cups
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • 4 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon of white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 2 minced garlic cloves
  • 8 cups of beef stock
  • ½ cup of white dry wine
  • ½ teaspoon of ground black pepper
  • 8 slices of French Bread cut 1 ½ inches thick
  • 2 cups of shredded mozzarella
  • half a cup of grated parmesan cheese
French Onion Soup

Steps to Make
First you caramelize the white onion. Place in a thick bottomed pot. Add 3 tablespoons of olive on medium heat then add the onion and stir so they are coated.

Cook and stir the onions for 20 minutes. Turn the heat up just a little while adding the 4th spoon of oil along with the butter. Stir for another 15 minutes as the onions begin to brown. Sprinkle with sugar then add salt. Then stir and cook for another 15 minutes.

Add in your white wine and stir. Then add the beef stock and bring to a simmer. Put the heat to low with the pot covered and cook for another half an hour. Season with more salt and pepper if needed.

Time to toast the bread. Heat oven at 450 and use a rack lined with foil. Brush both sides of the bread lightly with olive oil. Place into oven and toast for 5 minutes. Then turn slices over and cover with mozzarella and parmesan cheese and place back in until melted.

Lastly, ladle soup into bowls and place the French slices on the top of each bowl and then enjoy the heck out of this fantastic dish!

Confined to the House? Here's some GREAT Plans for When All of This is Over!

So, you're stuck in your house and you REALLY need stuff to do. So how about spending some time planning out some trips to go on when we can all get back out again. Come on now, don't you think you're worth it? Whether it's some drives to places or traveling to other cities, I really think that getting out there again will make you feel good about things while spending time with your friends and family.

First off, saying that you have little money or time is a lame excuse. You can go places on holidays and weekends and booking flights right now is cheaper than ever before! Traveling definitely disconnects you from everyday life and makes you feel alive.

Plan Trips

Traveling will create memories that last forever and will make you feel awesome thinking back on them. You'll learn new stuff, meet new people and you'll have some great photos and videos to share with friends and on social media. Mark Twain said: "Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do." This little shut down of regular life we're temporarily going through will be over soon and it's just a great excuse to experience some things you've always wanted to.

How about taking a drive into the country, or to a winery? Go visit friends or family you haven't seen in ages. Check out a larger city and eat at different restaurants, a museum or a show. There are so many amazing foods you haven't had! An Airbnb in a cool place would really be extra special. Or just how about Disney, Vegas, or swimming with dolphins somewhere if you've got the time? There's so much you can do and know that you deserve it.

Plan Trips

The other thing that traveling does is that it makes you a whole lot smarter. You can learn so much about different things and that definitely makes you a lot more interesting person. You'll have some great stories to share and amazing things to talk about for a long time.

So, think about setting up some travel, no matter how short or long a time it will take. Go online, read articles, talk to friends and research the heck out of it. It'll not only give you give you a whole lot to do now, but the fun you'll have later on will be amazing!

It's SPRINGTIME & HERE's the BEST WAY to Get Back Into EXERCISE Without Pain

If you're like most people, you didn't really exercise much during the winter. But now its springtime, the weather is warmer, and you can't wait to get back into it! Walking, jogging, running, hiking, biking, softball, golf, it's all great, right? But you know darn well your muscles aren't used to being that active and they are definitely going to hurt.

The key is that you want to start slow. Now I KNOW so many of you hate the thought of not going all out but starting slow and building your exercise routine up over the next few weeks is the serious way to stay healthy and not pull muscles and be in pain. Now if you truly stayed active all winter, well, then you can get right back into exercising. But, if you were basically a couch potato, then you've GOT TO take it easy and build back up to where you were before the weather got too cold. Trust us, if you want to feel good, it's the only way to do it.

Guacamole

Before you start your jogging or running routine, walk for ten minutes a day, then move up to 15 minutes within the week. When you can easily get back to 20 minutes to half an hour, turn it into a slow run or jog. You won't believe how much this type of approach will help you adjust safely.

If you play golf, head out to the range several times and hit a bucket. If you go out to play 18 holes without some proper warming up, you KNOW how much your back, arms and legs will be sore or hurt pretty bad. The same with softball, go to the batting cages a few times along with having a catch several times with friends, all so you loosen up at a nice, safe pace. And if you bike, start out easy for ten to fifteen minutes during the first week or so until you can build your core back up.

Guacamole

One more thing that we KNOW will really help is wearing good compression gear for your knees, elbows, lower back and hands. You won't believe how much the support will help your muscles and joints with soreness and pain reduction, while reducing recovery time. Now get back out there, but make sure to start out slow and safe!

OMG, the Most AMAZING Recipe for the Best GUACAMOLE You'll EVER Make!

There's a few great reasons to make guacamole: You love the taste... it's so easy to make... and it is over the top HEALTHY! Avocados are awesomely flavorful and guacamole is so simple to create. And it goes amazing with foods other than just chips, but there's nothing wrong with a big bowl of fresh guac and chips, now is there?

But first off, do you have any idea how insanely healthy guacamole really is? Avocados are considered a super food that's just loaded with antioxidants and nearly 20 vitamins and minerals. They have more potassium than bananas (which supports a good blood pressure level), and they carry the good monounsaturated fat. Plus, they're loaded with fiber which is great for your digestion. And, they have good fatty acids with anti-inflammatory properties. Yeah, wow.

Guacamole

Now do we mention how delicious fresh guacamole is? Well, this simple recipe tastes fantastic and you won't be able to stop eating it. Now you'll need to have a few fresh avocados, Roma tomatoes, a little fresh garlic, onion, lime juice and salt. Now some people like to add jalapeno peppers so do if that's your thing.

First make sure your avocados are ripe, meaning not too hard and not to mushy, they should have a little give when you squeeze them. So, you cut it in half with a good-sized knife, remove the pit, then scoop into a bowl with a spoon. Next step is to add in the juice from 1 fresh lime and then mash it all up with a fork. Now you'll add half a finely diced onion (white or red) along with 2 Roma tomatoes with the seeds removed. You then want to add in a couple of fresh garlic cloves along with half a teaspoon of salt. Now mix it all up and you have heaven sitting in your bowl!

Guacamole

Hey, we told you it was easy to make, and it goes amazing with your salad, homemade chili, and on toast or bagels. Hey, we think it's time to make a fresh bowl tonight!

The Incredible Benefits of a STATIONARY Bike Workout – It Just Might be Perfect for You!

I was looking at buying an outdoor road bike but I thought about the rain, snow, hot and cold weather. I also thought about the dangers of actually riding along with cars going right past me. A friend of mine then told me she's been using her exercise bike at home for a few years and not only does she avoid the negatives I just mentioned, it has done wonders for her health. So, I did some online research and found some surprisingly great things about using a stationary bicycle.

Low Impact - The very first thing that hit me was that a stationary bike is considered low impact which is perfect for a guy like me with an old hockey injury that's given me arthritis in my ankle. Walking, running, and outdoor biking can put a ton of pressure and stress of your knees, ankles, feet, legs and hips. The bike is a nice fluid motion that is so much easier on your joints.

Working out on a bike

Great Cardio Workout for ALL Fitness Levels – Your bike does not have to be moving alongside a road in order to get your heart pumping. The indoor bike gives you a great cardio workout that has so many benefits like lowering your blood pressure, giving you more energy, improve your sugar levels, and helping to reduce stress.

Losing Weight – Weight loss is one of the great benefits of an ongoing exercise program as you can burn as much as 600 calories or more per hour.

Strengthens Your Lower Muscles – Cycling is great for strengthening your hamstrings, quads, and calves can also work your core and back muscles.

Incredibly Convenient – Hey, it's in your home or at the gym as you avoid all outdoor negative factors of riding a bicycle.

Working out on a bike

Reduces Mental Stress – You feel good, you're losing weight, you're getting in shape which all helps to alleviate some of the stress in your life. Getting your heart pumping and sweating works to reduce stress levels while helping to release serotonin which helps to regulate your mood, sleep, memory, and sexual desire.

It's Safe – Face it, road cycling can be hazardous. It can also be in weather that is terribly uncomfortable. Indoor cycling can give you the benefits of good health in a safe and comfortable atmosphere. It's a great workout and like we said it just might be perfect for you!

Copper Fit Easy On Easy Off Compression Socks – Copper infused compression socks are designed to provide support for muscle, joint stiffness, and soreness, as well as aid in recovery and performance by supporting improved circulation and oxygenation. Some studies indicate that athletes can run longer with less pain and recover faster. These socks are designed to help you move comfortably through the day.

Dark Chocolate: See Why This Superfood is SO Incredibly Good for You!

Okay, let me first say that milk and white chocolate doesn't count – it's Dark Chocolate we're talking about here and it's incredibly nutritious, not to mention so delicious! I eat a piece of it every day rated at 85 % – and that number means by weight how much of the bar is made from pure cacao beans as well as cocoa butter to add flavor. Now the higher the number, the more bitter and less sweet it is, but also the lower in sugar and carbs it is. It's got numerous healthy benefits that are mind blowing! Just check out what makes this an honest to goodness superfood...

Now a bar that is at 70% dark chocolate or higher is rich in nutrients and antioxidants and contains potassium, fiber, magnesium, copper and calcium. But it is also known for lowering bad cholesterol and raising good cholesterol! Cocoa butter has oleic acid, which is the same monounsaturated fat that is in olive oil.

Dark Chocolate

Now for those with diabetes or heart disease, dark chocolate can reduce resistance to insulin. A study that included 470 men showed that in over 15 years it can lower the risk of death by 50% from heart disease which is fantastic! Some studies show that it can actually improve how your system metabolizes glucose.

The amazing dark chocolate may also lower your blood pressure! It can stimulate the lining of the arteries which helps to reduce blood pressure. And a 2015 study found that those who ate it more than 5 times per week not only had a 57% less risk of heart disease but had a lower risk of stroke as well.

Dark Chocolate

Now get this... it can also put you in a better mood! Dark Chocolate stimulates areas in your brain that produce pleasure which can improve your mood. A 2018 study showed that high levels of flavonoids in this super food gathered in certain parts of the brain that effected learning and memory. And, research shows that dark chocolate can actually control your appetite!

And finally... a GOOD dark chocolate will never have sugar listed as the very 1st ingredient - sugar should always be listed below the cocoa ingredients. So, I know that I'm having the dessert that is so good for you... how about you?

10 of the Tasty & Best High Fiber Foods for Your Everyday Diet

Fiber is pretty darned good for your health, but do you actually know why? Well, dietary fiber doesn't break down in your body and doesn't digest. It actually passes through your body acting like a scrub brush to your innards, which is a very good thing.

Your best fibers? Whole grains, nuts and seeds, beans, fruits and veggies. But don't go crazy adding too much too quick or you're going to get gas and bloating. And make sure to drink lots of water because fiber is at its best when it absorbs water.

So, what does fiber do that's good for you? It lowers cholesterol levels, helps to control sugar levels, keeps you fuller which helps with your weight, helps to maintain bowel health, among other things.

Now here's a list of fiber-rich foods that are delicious and oh-so good for you...

Popcorn
  • Popcorn – You heard us right. No, not movie popcorn drowned in butter, but when eaten as a natural whole grain it's high in fiber and antioxidants.
  • Broccoli – Loaded with nutrients and helps your gut to remain healthy.
  • Whole Grains – Breads, pastas, and brown rice are an excellent source, “if” whole grains is the very first ingredient listed.
  • Potatoes – Basically all types of potatoes are good sources of healthy fiber. A small potato with the skin has around 3 grams of fiber for you.
  • Apples – Not only sweet and crunchy, they can help lower your cholesterol while protecting your arteries.
  • Nuts – Raw or dry-roasted, they're loaded with protein and fiber.
  • Avocado – They're not only delicious, but there are 10 grams of fiber in 1 cup!
  • Berries – Well, we know they're high in antioxidants, but blueberries, strawberries, blackberries and raspberries are filled with healthy fiber!
  • Beans – Beans are a tremendous source of fiber and protein as well. In just half a cup of edamame there's 9 whole grams of fiber!

5 Wonderfully Delicious Winter Veggies... So Tasty and Incredibly Good For You!

Almost anywhere you live in the US has colder weather during the winter months. And that means a different crop of fresh veggies have come out to play. Today we bring you 5 different vegetables that are known for sprouting during these months and are so tasty and incredibly healthy. And here you go...

Sweet Potatoes – How many of you seriously love your sweet potatoes? They're considered a root vegetable, starchy and sweet. They are high in fiber content which helps with your digestion. They're wonderfully delicious and cooking them actually increases their vitamin C content level. These orange veggies are a great source for C and B vitamins as well as minerals like beta carotene, calcium and iron. Use within 3-5 weeks.

Winter vegetables

Belgian Endive – It's very low in carbohydrates and calories and is a member of the chicory family. Endive is loaded with Vitamin K which is fat soluble and is known for boosting your bone health. Most people use it in salads and is delicious with radicchio, olive oil and vinegar. It should stay fresh for about 2 weeks while kept in the veggie drawer in your fridge. It's high in fiber which fills you up while dieting.

Collard Greens – Incredibly popular in the southern United States, this super tasty vegetable features tough stemmed dark leaves and is in the same family as broccoli and cabbage. Best known for being cooked with smoked ham hock or turkey wings. Before cooking you want to make sure to first remove the stems then wash the leaves extra thoroughly. Cooking long and slow while using moist heat will reduce it's tough and bitter texture.

Sweet Dumpling Squash – The beauty of this squash is that there are so many great ways to cook it – creamy soup, stuffed, caramelized, mashed, glazed, baked, roasted, and more! They are different than summer squashes, having hard, thick skins, and taking longer to cook as they are firmer than the summer variety. They can be stored for up to two full months in a cool and dark place. When cooked its light and tender with a mild yet sweet flavoring.

You Sit TOO MUCH & You Know It's BAD – but Have We Got the EASY CURES!

You sit all day working, driving, eating, computers, video games, etc., and you KNOW it's not good for you. Too much sitting increases your chances of heart disease, diabetes, and host of other nasty things to your body. Every doctor, chiropractor, massage therapist and what have you says the same thing: You NEED to move around more, and you know what? It's so much easier than you think!

Girl checking her fitness tracker

I've seen several suggestions for moving around during the day but getting up every half hour to an hour to walk, stretch or just move about for two minutes is ideal for your body. In fact, it's now being said that this type of movement may be as good as having planned exercise during the day. Walk around, get a drink of water, have a walking meeting at work, or even do some light stretching. Anything you can do to move your body is very helpful physically.

Now here's some things you can do during your day to move about and stay active...

Set a reminder to take breaks – Set your phone alarm to go off every half hour to an hour. Stand during meetings – Why sit all that time when you can stand and be engaged. Forget the elevator is there and take the stairs. Forget the drive-thru window for your morning coffee, park and walk inside. Park farther away at work or the grocery store. Get a standing desk for work and you can intermittently stand and sit during the day. Walk around while you talk on your cell phone. Drink a lot of water and you'll have to go to the bathroom more. Use the bathrooms on different floors so you have to walk. Join a workout class during your lunch break – you won't believe how much energy you'll start to have. Take walks after dinner every night! Wear a walking or fitness tracking watch so you can see how much you're actually moving around! Now get up and stretch when you feel stiff or for any good reason!

Girl taking a walk down the stairs

Moving around is a heck of a lot easier than you think and YOU CAN DO IT! And WOW, you are going to feel SO MUCH BETTER!
